Sunny Days

Remember when I wrote about getting out and about to smell the roses? Sunny days are the perfect opportunity for that.

If you ever find that you are in a sour mood, something as simple as a walk can help resolve it. Be outside in the fresh air, let it flow through your lungs giving you that invigorating feeling nature has always intended to give. Get away from the phone, the computer and work in general.

Get away from your worries and simply take pleasure in the warmth the sun offers on that day. Take joy in peaceful surroundings, let heavy matters slide away from your mind. Let the stress slowly be undone. Maybe even think to take a relaxing nap outside.

Important thing here is to just get out and about. Be outside, leave the worries behind and take pleasure in the simple joys of this world. Do not concern yourself too much with human society as you spend quiet moments outside. Notice the little details around you and the beauty of this world. Just let it all go and relax.

A little tip, if you want to keep yourself engaged through other means. Reading a book is a great option, and a physical one vs. Kindle.

Still Alive

In our day to day routines we sometimes forget to be thankful for one simple fact. We are still alive. This holds more true when we are experiencing depression. Depression is an “issue” where we are physically alive, but don’t feel awake in this world. People feel disconnected from this world and the one they actually perceive.

But remembering the simple fact that you are still alive can help change your thinking. Why are you alive? That is for you to find out. But you are here, so may as well make the best of the time you are granted on this planet. May as well do your best to help create a change for the world, or be the change you want to see in the world at least.

To some “still alive” are just words. While to others they have a deeper meaning, and possibly a key to a more positive mindset. When you begin to appreciate the fact that you’re still alive, you will find that you are a little changed. Everyday will seem a little brighter. Who knows, you may even find a long-term purpose in your life.

Depression sucks, it is a cloud of unease and negativity that looms over our heads for a long time. But we can combat it, how you do that is up to you. But remember this, there are people in your life who will deeply care for your well being. There are people who will want to look out for you and help you in anyway they can. Life is too short to spend it sulking. Depression is natural, but when it overstays it’s welcome, that is a worrying concern.

Keep your head up high and remember, you’re still alive.

Rage Against the Dying of the Light

Our mind as it develops is like a blank diary waiting to be filled with experiences and knowledge. But what we fill it with can make a huge impact. Fill it with negative content, your outlook overall will be negative. Fill it with positive content, and your outlook will be positive.

Does that mean there will be no middle ground? No, there will always be the middle ground. No person can truly ever have it one way or the other. It is also worth noting that not many people would tend to have a mind that would inherently lead them down a self-destructive path. But that does not mean that these tendencies cannot form later on in life.

dark-room-1513381Yet, regardless of what happens we can only fight to live on. Rage against the dying of the light. Perseverance is your one sole testament to your strength in those trying times. Your ability to fight against the negative thoughts, and stay afloat is what defines how strong you are. In order for one to survive, you have to fight for it, you must persevere.

Like how other creatures in nature must fight for their survival everyday, you must do so as well. This is especially applicable to those in a very dark place. Think of what is dear to you, the bonds you hold precious. Think of what can happen if you were to disappear, think of the better time you will miss out on. There will always be a better time waiting for you at the end, the light will glimmer brightly at the end of this dark pathway you may be walking right now.

Like how night always turns to day, your darkness will end at some point. There will always be better times waiting at the end of a struggle, relief. Take comfort in the fact that you’re still alive, and if you put your mind to it, you can be one of many individuals to help make a difference in the world. You’re you, unique. So persevere, fight against the dying of your light.

Detach the Detractors

If you think you have people who may be holding you down for the wrong reasons, or pushing un-welcomed negativity into your life, then it maybe time to ditch them. Detach the detractors.

Not everyone in your life will serve a positive effect. Why are successful people so successful and for the most part seem happy? It is because they have managed to surround themselves with positive thinking and encouraging people.

If you let even one bit of negativity enter your mind, it can take over like a raging virus unless strictly controlled. Motivational (or positive) thinking however is something that is normally sparse. It is fed to us in doses through various methods of our own choosing, one of which is positive people giving positive energy.

Review your relationships with people, see who is a positive influencer to you. See who affects you negatively, once you’ve narrowed it down be sure to create a list. Take those people and be prepared to either cut down the time you spend with them dramatically or completely severe all ties to them. Surround yourself with positive people and you will find yourself naturally changing.

But remember, in order for this to happen you have to keep an open mind. Be accepting of all possibilities in life, embrace them with open arms and a curious mind. Remember to keep on smiling!

Positivity is All Around You

Depending on what your situation is, and what your thinking is like, the world may seem like a bad place. This may hold even truer if you’re an avid follower of news media and are perhaps going through a rough period in your life. I wouldn’t blame you for thinking that the world is perhaps a bad place. Real world events of the human world can easily support that. BUT that is what you don’t necessarily have power over, so why not focus on what we do have power over?

A ship only sinks if water is let in. Similarly, a human’s mind will slowly degrade if negativity is allowed to enter.

The only solution to negativity is positivity. In a negative world, we all have to somehow find that positivity in our life and hold on to it. But at the same time embrace whatever new experiences come our way. So some of you may wonder what I’m exactly getting at with this. What I’m saying is that no matter how negative the world, there will always be positivity all around you.

How is that possible?

Unlike negativity which is shown to us in bulk everyday, positivity exists in little traces all around us. If you face a challenge that you don’t particularly look forward to, find something you enjoy about it and hold that as a placeholder for your positive feelings on it. If it is the world you’re concerned about, look at your own life and appreciate the bonds you have with others. Everyone in your life is unique somehow, and they can help feed you the positive energy you need through a valued trust and friendship.

What this comes down to is your ability to be able to introspect. It is there where you will take the opportunity to analyze and appreciate what you have in your life. It is also there where you will study the little details of your issues, in life and could very well find some meaning in them. Whatever happens, happens for a reason.

Embrace the world with an open and free mind. And remember to keep on smiling.

A Smile a Day is A Step Forward

Ever heard the saying that an Apple a day will keep the doctor away?

Well then how about this one: A smile a day is a is a step forward.

What does that mean?

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

It means that we should perhaps all learn to smile a little more. Smiling is a magical thing, whether you do it with others or in private. Just from one gesture, you can feel a little happiness sprout inside of you. So why not try it? You don’t lose anything by doing so.

This is especially true for those who are going through certain issues in life. Any problem in general will tend to bog our mood down a great degree. But you know what, if you can smile even a little then you know you’re going to be alright. Every time you smile, it is a step forward. But where is it that this path you walk on is taking you?

That is a question I can’t answer for you. But we know that there will be relief, and happiness at the end. The only time the opposite occurs is if we’re left thinking too much into the troubles of the human world and how it affects us. But if you live a simple and humble life, always doing your best to smile no matter what happens to you, then you will be okay.

So why not start today with a challenge?

Challenge yourself to smile at least once in a day. You can do it in private or in public, whatever it is you want but just smile :).
